Dear Second Grade Parents,

Boy, we have a lot of things to get through before the year ends!  We have a chapel coming up next Wednesday, May 14th.  We have begun doing weekly book reports every Tuesday, and we have started off with a bang!  I have seen lots of good work being done and enthusiastic students working hard on them!  Keep up the great work!

Some parents still have not re-enrolled for next year.  Please tell the office your intentions for next year because classes are filling up quickly!  Also, mid-trimester was on Friday, and mid-trimester reports will come home FRIDAY.  If you feel the need to schedule a conference, please do so as soon as possible.  Conferences will NOT be scheduled otherwise.

Please help your child to remember that although it is almost the end of the school year, we still have 6 and one half weeks to go, and there is still work to be done and things to learn.  End the year on a high note, working hard toward third grade.

The school is very much in need of volunteers during the school day.  Many of those jobs offer double volunteer hours if you can do it.  Please see the Eagle Express for different areas where we could definitely use your help.  Really want to help, but don’t have the time?  Classroom supplies can be purchased, and every twenty dollars spent on the classroom equals one hour of volunteer time.  See me or email me for suggestions on what to purchase.

This week in school:  A book report is due Tuesday, and handwriting, memory, and spelling are due Friday.  Don’t forget to get your new book report book approved by me!  We will be starting Unit D, “Patterns in the Sky,” in science.   Math has a fact test this Thursday and a regular test on Friday.  Reading has us reading, “Harlequin and the Gift of Many Colors.”  We will be talking more about classification, inferences, and magazines, and we will be taking a test on Friday. Make sure to practice both addition and subtraction math facts each night.  Please look over your children’s homework with them and ask them about what they learned in each subject every day.  By reviewing with your children every night, it remains fresh in their minds and is remembered for longer.  Thank you!

God’s Blessings,

                                                                Ms. Jensen
