Homework

Homework is intended for practice of the concepts that we have been learning in school. Homework is written on the board daily, and I will make every effort to have it posted on the homework page at the end of the day. All school and homework should be written in your school assignment notebook. Homework can be checked online at www.stjohnsoxnard.com/7. Do not use the website as your primary source for getting the homework as it may not always work or may not be updated.

All homework should be done at home or during specified class times. Homework is due at the beginning of the day. It is your responsibility to make sure you do the work and turn the work in. I can not give you credit for what you do not turn in.

If you have questions on your homework, it is your responsibility to make sure you get them answered before you leave school. Some possible times to get questions answered are during your recess or by appointment before school or after school. Throughout the year there will be times for special tutoring, so take advantage of those opportunities as they come around.

It is imperative to make sure that your name is on every piece of paper. If you do forget to put your name on the paper the following scale will be applied to your work.

Trimester

Homework

Test / Quiz / Projects

One

Half credit *

10 % deduction *

Two

No credit

20 % deduction *

Three

No credit

30 % deduction *

 * The work must be turned back in with the proper name on it.

The missing assignment policy for the seventh grade follows the school policy. It is as follows:

  1. Any assignment not turned in when it is due is considered missing.
  2. Any assignment completed less than 51% is considered a missing assignment.
  3. All missing assignments are to be completed. They must be turned in the following day with a missing assignment notice attached and signed by a parent or guardian.
  4. Any student continually turning in work that is less than 100 % done is subject to receiving “0’s” on work that is not 100% done.

There may be times throughout the year where you may have to do some work over breaks. You will have ample opportunity to work on those assignments before and/or after the breaks.

Extra Credit

Extra Credit opportunities may come up throughout the year. It is the students’ responsibility to look for these and to take advantage of them. If a student continually does not complete work, they may loose these opportunities to receive extra credit.
